anacron software package provides cron-like program that doesnt go by time, you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install anacron
anacron is installed in your system.
Make ensure the anacron package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep anacron *
You will get with anacron package name, version, architecture and description in a table
